MESC launches 36,000-ton PVC compound plant

Riyadh-based Middle East Specialized Cables Company (MESC), the leading manufacturer of all instrumentation and control cables in the MENA region, has recently inaugurated a new plant for producing Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) products in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The inauguration ceremony at the PVC factory was held in the distinguished presence of Eng. Abdulaziz Al Namlah, Chairman and the Board Executive Director of MESC, Mr. Abdulaziz Al Duailej, President of MESC, other Board members, senior management as well as the media.

R5bn fibre optic cable between JHB and CT launched

The construction of a new 12,000km, R5 billion fibre optic network cable linking Cape Town and Johannesburg was launched in Bloemfontein on Monday by a three member consortium, FibreCo telecommunications. The project is expected to create 2,300 jobs countrywide.

Prysmian Group secures a contract worth €67M to link Phu Quoc island to the mainland power grid in Vietnam

Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, has been awarded a contract by the Vietnamese utility EVNSPC (Southern Power Corporation under Vietnam Electricity) worth a total of Euro 67 million for the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of a submarine power cable link to connect Phu Quoc Island to the national power grid in Vietnam.

Taihan Electric wins power lines orders worth USD 92 million

Yonhap reported that Taihan Electric Wire Co, South Korea’s No 2 cable maker, has clinched a combined USD 92 million in orders to build high voltage power lines in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.   Under a USD 48 million turnkey deal signed with Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water, Taihan Electric Wire will replace a 158 kilometer long, 132 kilovolt electricity line in the Middle Eastern Country’s capital.

Large reserves for 10-gigabit Ethernet

From April onwards Datwyler is replacing tried and tested RJ45-S/FTP Category 6/EA patch cables with higher-performance S/FTP patch cables that meet all the requirements of Category 6A as laid down by the IEC and are thus ideally suited to 10-gigabit Ethernet transmissions. This change will have no impact on price for Datwyler customers.
