Habia Announces Joint Venture with Irradose AB

Habia announces new irradiated range of specialist wires and cables
Specialist custom design cable manufacturer Habia Cable is pleased to announce the launch of a joint venture with the Swedish Company Irradose AB, where we will be irradiating our wide range of special wire and cable products, concentrating in cables for defence and nuclear markets.

Significant investment has been involved in the development of Irradose and today the new facility, located in the Uppland town of Tierp, just over an hour’s drive north from Stockholm, was formally opened by Anders Wall, President of Beijer Alma AB who own the Habia Cable Group.

Johan Vinberg, President of Habia Cable confirmed that this will enable Habia to become a leading cable manufacturer in the supply of high technology wires and cables for naval and land force wiring applications with their defence cables, meeting their stringent demands for safety in terms of zero halogen LS0H cables, flame retardant cables and fire resisting wire and cable products.

Irradose will be run by the Managing Director, Mr Hans Forsgren.

The cables that will be produced by the joint venture include safety cables, zero halogen cables, LS0H cables, flame retardant and fire resistant cables, ruggedised cables which are mechanically strong and products suitable for use in specialist cable applications such as fighting vehicles, cables for command and control systems, radar systems and weapons systems cables.

Habia Cable is a Swedish wire and cable system manufacturer with a global presence and is part of the Beijer Alma Group of companies, which is an internationally active group. Habia Cable is a global innovator, specialising in developing, manufacturing and marketing custom designed cables and cable systems for demanding market areas such as telecom, defence, nuclear power and industrial cable applications. Custom design products are the major part of the cable production, of which 90% of the sales are for export. The largest markets for Habia Cable are Germany, China, South Korea, United Kingdom, France and Sweden.

The wire and cable company has a global focus with manufacturing and research and development facilities in Sweden together with manufacturing facilities in Sweden, Germany and China. Habia Cable also has an assembly and harnessing production facility in Poland.

The net revenue for 2008 was 68.5 million and the number of employees 452.

Habia Cable manufacturing facilities and sales offices are ISO9001 and ISO1400 approved.
