Siemon Launches Z-MAX™ Tool with a Giveaway

Launched last month, Siemon’s best in class Z-Max category 6A cabling system is now complemented by the Z-TOOL™. To launch the new termination tool, Siemon is issuing them free for a limited period in every box of 20 Z-Max outlets.

Z-MAX is an end-to-end network cabling solution, designed to shatter the previously accepted limitations of the RJ-45 interface. It supplies the best guaranteed category 6A margins in the industry by enhanced signal turning between a ‘Smart Plug’ PCB loaded plug and patent-pending linear termination module in the outlet or panel.

The termination technology included in the Z-Max system is based on a Zero-Cross methodology to eliminate split and crossed pairs. The module allows pairs to be laced quickly whilst maintaining and protecting cable pair geometry for optimized transmission performance consistency.

With the Z-TOOL, termination times are under 60 seconds in both UTP and shielded configurations, including cable preparation. The ease and speed of quality termination has been tested both in the lab and the field. As technical manager Lee Funnell explains, “We have given the Z-TOOL to complete novices, who had never previously terminated a cable before. After a very short demonstration they were under the minute mark in producing consistent and reliable terminations. We fully expect skilled installers to smash their own bests with a significant margin.”

“Termination time is money,” said Graeme Stoker, marketing manager EMEA. “If installers can halve or quarter their termination times with Z-Max and the Z-TOOL then time on site can be reduced and labour margins protected. The system and tool have been designed to create the highest performance possible with the most consistent and reliable quality once installed. The designers started with a blank sheet and have come up with something truly revolutionary.”

The Z-TOOL is compact in design and very simple to operate. The module fits snugly into the tool housing and the handle then hinges over to neatly terminate the pairs with a squeezing action. Designed for handheld operation or mounted, the tool can be easily attached to a frame or other suitable fascia by screwing a cage nut through a specifically designed hole in the base.

Explaining the introductory free issue of the Z-TOOL, Graeme Stoker said, “This is unlike anything in the market and has to be seen to be believed. We want installers to embrace this new technology and by offering the tool free for a limited period, we hope to encourage experts in the trade to try it for themselves and see how fast they can create connections with robust, class-leading performance.”
