MITA Cable Management, part of the Schneider Electric Group, has risen to the challenge of providing cable management for one of the UK’s most sophisticated audio visual showrooms, with the completion of the new flagship NIAVAC (Northern Ireland Audio Visual Arts Centres) store in Belfast.
The 12,000m2 store caters for corporate companies, major events and even the homes of the rich and famous. Providing a state-of-the art facility where clients can experience the world’s most advanced A/V equipment, the showroom features several specialist ‘demonstration’ rooms, each requiring a bespoke electrical installation. Electrical contractor, Millar & Matchett had just three months to complete the installation in the demonstration rooms, along with the store’s repair workshops, storage and distribution facility and office areas.
Millar & Matchett used a variety of MITA products including aemsa steel wire cable tray, underfloor powertrack, floor boxes and dado trunking to complete the installation. “We have used MITA on many previous jobs,” commented Gavin Thompson from Millar Matchett, “so we knew they could offer us a one-stop-shop for everything we needed.
“aemsa tray gave us a really flexible solution for the building’s general power and low voltage needs. Though we had to keep power and low voltage cables separate, we could put both in a single run of wire cable tray thanks to the divider provided by MITA and this dramatically reduced the installation times. This had clear advantages for us, given the time constraints we were working under.”
MITA’s underfloor powertrack system and pre-wired floorboxes were used in the office and demonstration areas and three types of MITA dado trunking were installed to cater for the specific needs of the offices, repair workshops, and in the interactive whiteboard demo room.
