Evoprene™, a name known worldwide is a styrenic thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compound, produced by AlphaGary in England and Canada, is being specified for an increasingly wide range of applications across almost all sectors of industry. In markets such as automotive, electrical, consumer goods, food contact, toys and baby products, designers and processors find they can enhance their products and add value, style and functionality with these soft flexible materials.
The Evoprene™, HP range is based on high performance polymers producing compounds with high strength and toughness and very good abrasion resistance coupled with excellent hydrolysis resistance, ageing characteristics and recovery properties. This allows styrenic TPEs to begin to challenge for market share in some areas formerly only supplied by TPUs. Application areas are diverse and include matting and sheeting, footwear and baby products.
Migration of chemicals, especially plasticizers, is an issue which is getting more and more attention. Evoprene™, range of low migration compounds helps to overcome this problem. Grades as soft as 50 ShA and up to 85 ShA are available completely free of plasticizers or oils but importantly these compounds still retain the excellent physical properties associated with SEBS type compounds. This includes low compression set, improved tensile strength, good heat ageing and excellent weatherability. Uses are found in food packaging, electronics and sealing applications.
