Nexans win £19 million wind power cable contract
April 18, 2008A contract worth £19m has been awarded for producing power cables to connect the planned Sheringham Shoal offshore windfarm with the mainland. Nexans, a worldwide leader in the cable industry, has been awarded the contract to supply submarine export cables for the project, which is planned for a site about 12 miles off the north Norfolk coast.

Ten 47 to exhibit at Independent Power & Energy Europe 2008

ExxonMobil plans maintenance shutdown at Campana refinery
April 16, 2008ExxonMobil Corp. has planned a maintenance shutdown at Campana Refinery (Buenos Aires, Argentina). The maintenance shutdown of its catalytic reformer is planned to commence on April 10, 2008. A maintenance shutdown is also scheduled for the middle distillation treatment, aromatic hydrotreatment, naphtha stabilizer and coke naphtha hydrofiner units. These units have to be shut down because of the lack of hydrogen feed from the catalytic reformer.

Quality Wire Products planning US$ 4 million expansion
April 16, 2008Bahrain-based Quality Wire Products Company is to undergo a BD1.5 million ($4m) expansion, it was revealed yesterday. The company, which manufactures wire mesh, is to relocate its factory from Salmabad to Hidd within a year, said managing director K U Kumar. “The company currently employs 50 people, including 15 Bahrainis,” he told the GDN.

NSW win subsea fiber optic power and communication cable job
April 14, 2008General Cable Corporation reported today that its subsidiary, Norddeutsche Seekablewerke GmbH (NSW), has been awarded its first submarine long-haul repeatered fiber optic communications link project. The project will have a length of more than 2,600 miles and will be installed at depths of up to 11,000 feet.
