Taihan Electric wins US$32 million cable project in Australia
April 22, 2008Korea’s Taihan Electric Wire Co. said Monday (Apr. 21) it has signed a $32 million deal with an Australian electricity provider to build a high-power cable network in the country. The deal with Energy Australia Co. calls for Taihan Electric to build a 132-kilovolt turn-key power cable network in Sidney, the Korean company said. Construction of the cable network is scheduled to begin in July and last one year, Taihan Electric said.

3M cold shrink technology is 40 years old and still protecting, insulating, splicing & terminating
April 21, 20083M is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its development of cold shrink technology. Specially formulated rubber tubes, stretched on a removable core, are used for electrical insulation, splicing and terminating. No source of heat or extra tools are needed to install a cold shrink accessory. One alternate method of applying accessories uses heat shrink technology, which requires a torch. To distinguish it from other methods, 3M gave the name “cold shrink” to the new technology.
