Alvern offers a most comprehensive range of cable solutions designed and manufactured to meet the often-harsh African environment. All cable products comply fully with the appropriate SABS standards and are manufactured and distributed in accordance with the ISO 9001 quality management system.
Alvern produces electrical cable for a diverse range of customers from sectors, which include mining, industrial, agricultural, automotive, security and building industry. Automotive includes heavy-duty battery, multicore cable for trailer electrical connections and general-purpose flexible high-tension wire.
The housing and building products cover every application and include round and flat three-wire cable, stranded single cable conductors and twin-cover illumination cable.
For the equipment industry there is a complete range of specifically designed cable products, including flexible welding cable and panel wiring cable (stranded and single core). This range is complemented by the Cabtyre range of flexible cables offering between two and seven cores.
Twin core flat flexible cables are offered for use in a multitude of applications ranging from car radios and hi-fi sets to intercoms, security wiring and normal domestic table lamps. Supply of electrical power and control signals in outdoor applications is most demanding and here Alvern has perfected a range of products, which meet the relevant SABS standards.
Other multi-purpose products include flat, flexible cables for use on cranes and elevators, high-strength cables with integral stainless steel support members, and mastlite, which is a multicore out door cable for lighting applications.
Alvern maintains its own physical distribution centres in Germiston, Durban and Cape Town. The rest of the Eastern Cape region is serviced through a recently appointed distributor in Port Elizabeth, Ted Dersley Agencies.
