HUBER+SUHNER grants licence to Tyco Electronics

The US group Tyco Electronics and the Swiss specialist in electrical and optical connectivity HUBER+SUHNER have agreed that the ODC fiber-optic connector range patented by HUBER+SUHNER will in future be marketed under licence by Tyco Electronics as a second source supplier.

The innovative optical connector solution developed by HUBER+SUHNER has been successfully deployed in the emerging fiber-to-the-antenna market as well as in industrial communication applications thanks to its outstanding robustness and technical performance. It has become a global marketstandard. Following the entry into the alliance of the French electronic components manufacturer Radiall SA, Tyco Electronics is a further large corporation ensuring global product availability. This will satisfy the huge demand for HUBER+SUHNER’s ODC products in the booming fiber-to-the-antenna market.

Global marketstandard

ODC is a registered trademark of HUBER+SUHNER for its patented ODC fibre-optic connector family. In the last two years ODC has become the global standard for fiber-optic connections for mobile communication systems including 3G (W-CDMA, CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA), WiMax and 4G (LTE).
The new alliance with Tyco and Radiall headed by HUBER+SUHNER guarantees our customers highest product availability and the ODC products of the three technology companies are compatible with each other and perform to equivalent high standards.
HUBER+SUHNER CEO Urs Kaufmann says of the new partnership: “This strategic partnership supports the global breakthrough of our new innovative ODC product family further.”
